About Me!

Who doesn't love fall? Call it what you want, autumn, fall, football season, whatever it means to you one thing everyone can agree on is it's a time of relaxation and enjoying the outdoors before it starts to snow. Now if you're like me and fall is your favorite season not many things can take away from your love of the time of year, accept for one thing...the start of school. Now technically school starts during the summer considering fall begins September 23rd but what don't end in September are the awkward conversations you simply cannot avoid when meeting new people. Whether you're foreign language teacher has you introduce yourself in Spanish to the whole class, your science teacher pairs you up with someone you've merely followed on Instagram, or you're just plain stuck in an awkward situation where no ones talking, it's always better to break the ice rather than stand there in silence. So because this blog is called conversation starters, allow me the honor of teaching you how to introduce yourself the not so awkward way.

The most obvious way to break the ice is simply tell them your name. So to everyone who's reading, Hi I'm Lauren Elizabeth West.

Next, if it's a formal introduction say, in front of the class tell them more about yourself. For example, I'm 14 years old and my birthday is May 11th. I live with my mom, dad, and my sister Alli who is a senior at Woburn high, and my brother is a sophomore at UNH.

Once they know the basic facts about you it's time to see if you have any likes or hobbies in common with them. I would say something along the lines of, I find myself to be a very creative person. I love to paint intricate details on my nails and I paint them every one to two weeks. I also love arts and crafts and one of my favorite classes is art, as well as English. Along with my love of English I love to write and read, which I do every night before bed. Although I love to read I'd have to say my favorite thing to do is bake and my dream job is to own my own  bakery.

Now that they know all you think they should know about you its time for the last step, Ask them about themselves. Make sure before you leave your not so new friend in the dust, or sign up for a life long friendship, you know a little bit about them.

Hopefully I've taught you what to do next time you're in an awkward situation wondering whether or not to start a conversation! And if I haven't taught you anything and you already knew all of this then I hope you learned a little something about me! Thanks for reading!
    Don't worry I'm done writing,

until next time,

Lauren :)
